How pages are made

Each calculator starts from published figures: manufacturers’ data sheets, merchants’ product pages, British Standards summaries and Ofgem. We link every figure to where it came from. If a figure is our own assumption, the page says so.

Review

Before launch, each calculator will be checked by a named tradesperson in the relevant trade. Their name and qualifications appear on the page with the date they checked it. We only change the “last checked” date when someone has actually rechecked the figures.

Use of AI tools

We use AI tools to help draft code and text. A person checks every calculation against its source and tests the calculators before anything is published.

Corrections

If you spot a mistake, tell us. We aim to fix confirmed errors within two working days and list them below.
